Tesla's Coil

The Tesla coil is essentially a high-frequency air-core transformer developed by Nikola Tesla around 1891. It will include a live demo! Come and enjoy a presentation and demonstration of one of Nikola Tesla's greatest inventions, the Tesla Coil. Learn a bit about Tesla, the components and electronics of a Tesla Coil, and an interactive demonstration of a 2KW Tesla Coil. Come with questions.

National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO)

National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), the Green Bank telescope(the world's largest), and the National Radio Quiet Zone. The National Radio Quiet Zone (NRQZ) was established by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) November 19, 1958 to minimize possible harmful interference to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.

Always a huge favorite, our historian emeritus Ed Gable, K2MP, will entertain and enlighten us with his knowledge and great presentation skills about ham radio history.

SKYWARN TRAINING

The folks from the National Weather Service in Buffalo will be doing SKYWARN training for RARA. Get recertified or first time certification at this meeting, and enjoy their weather facts presentation.

September through May our meetings are held on the first Friday at Henrietta Fire Station No. 1, 3129 East Henrietta Road. In addition, to our monthly programs, our club gatherings include our famous Rochester Hamfest, family picnic, banquet, and cabin party.

Unless otherwise noted, meetings and programs of the Rochester Amateur Radio Assn. are open to the public. We encourage everyone to attend, members and non-members alike!
